Arelion’s Tier 1 Autonomous System, AS1299, has been ranked as the world’s #1 global Internet backbone since 2017. Our geographical network reaches 95% of North American and European end-users within a single hop, ensuring reliable and high-speed Internet connectivity up to 400Gbps.
For more than 30 years, we have owned and continuously expanded our global fiber backbone, spanning Europe, North America, and Asia. This infrastructure provides secure, uninterrupted connectivity between more than 350 Points of Presence (PoPs). By connecting eyeball networks directly to content networks with minimal hops, we ensure efficient traffic flow through extensive direct interconnections and access to the full global routing table.
Our network growth reflects the accelerating role of the public Internet in the global economy. It took three decades, from 1993 to 2023, to reach 100 Tbps of traffic. In contrast, it took just two and a half additional years to double that capacity to 200 Tbps. This exponential growth underscores the Internet’s position as the backbone of modern digital business and global connectivity.

Arelion’s SLA offer adds carrier-grade service quality to the flexibility of Internet connectivity. Using our global IP backbone, we provide three route options:
All options are available in the IPv4 and IPv6 domains.

Secure Internet routing – minimized routing threats from BGP Hijacks and Route Leaks |
As an “open network,” the Internet requires a continuous and collaborative effort between all stakeholders to sustain the resilient, reliable, and secure infrastructure necessary to power the global economy.
At Arelion, we implement best practices and enhanced security measures for routing and exchanging traffic with other public networks.
