About the company

HORISEN is a privately held Swiss technology software house headquartered in Rorschach, Switzerland. Founded in 2001, the company builds vendor-neutral, cloud-based messaging technology for the telecom and business messaging industry, covering the entire messaging value chain for both wholesale and retail messaging.

Its portfolio, including the SMS Platform, Business Messenger, SS7 and STP Platforms, MNP and Inventory Platforms as well as the services as MNP Lookup, SCCP Signaling and more, is used by mobile network operators, MVNOs, telecom carriers, SMS aggregators, enterprises and marketing agencies worldwide. HORISEN operates a multi-data center, multi-ISP environment in which availability, security and consistent performance are business critical for its customers.

The challenge

For HORISEN, availability is not simply an infrastructure target, it is a promise to every customer running business-critical messaging traffic through its platforms. Operating across multiple data centers and Internet service providers, the company needed a partner capable of strengthening both the reach and the resilience of its global infrastructure.

Two capabilities mattered most: stable, high-performance global connectivity, and protection that stops malicious traffic before it can reach the HORISEN environment, without creating unnecessary operational complexity for its teams. In parallel, HORISEN's SCCP Signaling Service required reliable, low-latency signaling connectivity and routing flexibility, delivered by carriers it could trust over the long term.

The solution

Arelion brought together the two capabilities HORISEN needed most: Tier-1 IP Transit for stable, high-performance global connectivity, and backbone-based DDoS mitigation that stops malicious traffic before it reaches the customer environment. Automated threat detection and backbone-level traffic scrubbing add an important layer of protection while keeping operations simple for HORISEN's teams.

The cooperation also extends to signaling. Arelion has been a trusted SCCP signaling partner for HORISEN for many years and is one of the carriers contributing to the multi-carrier model behind HORISEN's SCCP Signaling Service, providing the reliability, stability and low-latency signaling connectivity that global messaging operations depend on. Combined with HORISEN's multi-carrier approach, this helps its customers gain reliable SS7 connectivity, greater routing flexibility and access to trusted signaling partners through a single connection.

When choosing a partner for the infrastructure behind its messaging technology, HORISEN prioritized network expertise, security capability, proven operational reliability and responsive technical support. Arelion's proactive approach and consistent performance across all these areas made it a natural fit.

Results

Arelion's IP Transit and DDoS mitigation services strengthen the performance, resilience and security of HORISEN's messaging platforms. The reach and capacity of the Tier-1 backbone help HORISEN maintain consistent connectivity across its multi-data center environment, while backbone-level protection keeps malicious traffic away from its infrastructure. For HORISEN customers, this translates into what matters most: stable platform performance, high availability and the confidence that their messaging operations remain protected around the clock.

On the signaling side, consistent network performance, security and responsive technical support directly influence the quality of service HORISEN can offer. Its long-standing experience with Arelion in these areas is one of the reasons Arelion remains an important part of HORISEN's signaling ecosystem.

The partnership is also built on mutual trust. While HORISEN relies on Arelion's connectivity and security expertise across IP Transit, DDoS mitigation and SCCP signaling, Arelion uses the HORISEN SMS platform to support its own messaging business. As messaging ecosystems become more interconnected, this combination of secure infrastructure, resilient connectivity and trusted technology partnership gives both companies a strong foundation for further growth.

What the customer says

“What makes this partnership particularly valuable is that it goes both ways. HORISEN relies on Arelion’s services across key areas of our infrastructure, while Arelion uses HORISEN’s (...) SMS Platform for its own messaging business. Using each other’s technology in real-world operations gives us a deeper understanding of our respective solutions and creates a level of trust that goes beyond a traditional supplier relationship. It is a strong foundation for growing our cooperation further.”
