Your network on our Optical Fiber

For more than two-and-a-half decades, Arelion has been leading the way in every aspect of optical fiber backbone operations. Our dark fiber solutions deliver all the benefits of owning your own infrastructure at a fraction of the cost of building it yourself. To support our mission-critical Wavelength and IP backbone networks, we operate and manage our own optical fiber backbone network.

This ensures that all cable stretches, and fiber routings in our network are thoroughly scrutinized, documented, and maintained. Our network infrastructure also boasts several exclusive subsea routes in the Nordics and Baltics, for the best possible connectivity in the region.

Focused on your needs: Optical Fiber solutions

Arelion offers colocation facilities for inline amplifiers along our fiber routes, which means we can deliver seamless infrastructure support. Leveraging our extensive duct network, we can easily overpull new optical cables and provide high fiber count options to meet the high expectations of our customers.

Arelion supplies dark fiber to a broad range of customers, from the world's largest hyperscalers to local broadband providers.

On top of that we apply rigorous operational processes including fast in-field fiber repairs - to ensure high availability without serious interruptions.

What customers say

“As one of the largest owners of optical networks in the Czech Republic and Central Europe, focused exclusively on the B2B and wholesale (...) segments, we prioritize the selection of a reliable connectivity partner. Arelion’s services have definitely been the right choice, as proven by over 20 years lasting and ongoing cooperation.”

The Wholesale Management Team

With millions of end-users, for whom the word ‘interruption’ simply doesn’t exist, established network solutions don’t always cut it. That’s why we created our own (...) delivery platform and needed a network partner with not only a solid backbone, but also the right mindset and understanding to support our rapid and often unpredictable growth trajectory.

Andre Reitenbach, CEO, G-Core Labs

    Pre-delivery testing and quality assurance

Before fibers are handed over to our customers, we conduct an extensive performance assessment using advanced measurement tools such as OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) and power loss tests - all based on rigorous industry requirements. After successful testing, our customers assume direct operational control of their fiber optic network - enabling them to activate it at their convenience. After formal handover, you can rest assured that Arelion will still be fully responsible for ongoing maintenance and support.

Our Optical Fiber complies with G.652 ITU-T and is currently available to order in Europe. Explore our interactive maps to see more detailed information about Arelion’s network infrastructure.

    Optical fiber use cases

    High-speed Internet and data transmission
Optical fibers are capable of handling large data volumes of data, making them ideal for connecting businesses, homes and data centers within metropolitan regions and long-haul across countries and continents.
    Interconnecting data centers
Metro connections often require the interconnection of multiple data centers to facilitate seamless data sharing and backup. Optical fiber plays a vital role here, providing low-latency and high-capacity.
    Telecommunication networks
In urban areas, optical fibers are the backbone of the network - supporting a variety of services from voice and video, to data transmission, ensuring a high-quality experience.
    ISPs
Long-haul connections often involve international data transfer, and subsea optical fibers are the go-to solution. These cables span vast distances beneath the ocean - enabling fast and efficient global internet connectivity.
    Cross-country networks
Long-haul optical fibers connect successfully major cities and regions across long distances.
